I see people posting everywhere about how they want to improve their English. So, my quesiton to you is why do you want to improve your English? The first and most obvious reasons that come to mind are for work or maybe school. Is there any other reason? If so please leave a comment here. I would love to hear from you.

所以我從以前就覺得學英文很義務性, 雖然不排斥但也不會想要精進。
但最近因為喜歡上一個樂團, 英國樂團, 所以他們的訪談、影片、資料等，當然是英文居多，也因此讓我想要學好英文，就算這個理由很蠢，不過至少現在是因為想學而去學，不再只是義務性必須去學 =D
可是依舊原地踏步, 毫無進展, 實在令人感到挫敗、洩氣、無奈 = =
I want to improve my English ablilties, not just skills.
I went to the Toeic test and I got the score 835.
However, when I turned for Tofel, I just got a poor 1X in listening comprehension test.
What can I do?
I want to apeak English more fluently and be able to give an English speech.

Christie, you ask a very good question. Speaking will take time and one of the problems is that in Taiwan you are only taught how to memorize English and not really understand it. Many students in Taiwan also have no exposure to "real" English, by this I mean English spoken by foreigners. I would suggest that you search online for details on how to give "speeches". Ideally you would want to practice in some kind of class where a teacher could give suggestions and feedback. I’d look to see if there are any group English classes in your area where the emphasis is on actually speaking and listening to each other and not just on how to pass tests and memorize words.
